SPEMCO Switches
SPEMCO is an Acronym for Specialties Manufacturing Company. It was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1932, and manufactured automotive interior light slide switches for both the Hudson Motor Car and the Packard Motor Car Companies. Within 10 years, Specialties Manufacturing Company had become a registered trade name in the industry. Just before World War II, Specialties Manufacturing Company became a Wholesale Distributor for Arrow Hart Specialty Switches, eventually changing the direction of the company from manufacturing to distribution and then more known as SPEMCO Switches
In 1972 Douglas W. Gmeiner and his partners, Frank "Skip" Gmeiner and Mark Pinney purchased Spemco. Operations were moved to a new building in the Detroit suburb of St. Clair Shores, where we are still headquartered today. Over the years additional facilities have been opened to accommodate our ever expanding commitment to excellence and customer care.
